New article accepted for publication – Psychosocial Adjustement related to Grade Retention

A new article by Cécile Mathys, Marie-Hélène Véronneau and Aurélie Lecocq, “Grade Retention at the Transition to Secondary School: Using Propensity Score Matching to Identify Consequences on Psychosocial Adjustment,” has been accepted for publication in The Journal of Early Adolescence.

This article highlights the negative outcomes of grade retention on early adolescents’ psychosocial adjustment. In fact, retained students showed, in this study, decreases in self-esteem as well as in intrinsic and extrinsic motivation combined with higher levels of delinquent and aggressive behaviors than their counterparts who were not retained.
